Today I added a Bible verse for our Palm Sunday medley. Every time the choir has sung in worship over the last 2 years I’ve had a Bible verse memory component, and I’m not sure why I hadn’t selected one already for Palm Sunday. But it works so well and children can memorize like champs, so we’re doing it. The Triumphal Entry is mentioned in each of the 4 Gospels, but I was looking for the word “Hosanna”, too, so that omitted Luke. I ended up going with Matthew 21:9 because it is pretty streamlined and also because it mentions “Son of David”. I took a moment to have the kids see how “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” has the lyrics “David’s Royal Son”. We parked there to discuss how the children should be on the lookout for scripture in the worship songs that they sing.
“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9
The other BIG thing that happened today was that this past week I found out how to use MuseScore.com to create sheet music and MP3 files and upload them to this website. So, the first one I uploaded was a vocal warm-up track that I played through my blue tooth speaker (pro-tip: phone speakers aren’t loud enough to provide accompaniment for your choir). We sang thought the warm-up scales saying “Momma Made Me Mash My M&Ms”. Fun. Smiles. Playful. Yet still musical. I told them they should lay in bed at night and try to think of other sentences we could say.
And can you humor me and just let me brag that I’m pretty darn proud I could write and MP3 track and upload it to a website! The Lord is blessing these efforts for SimplyJoyfulNoises for sure because I am what you might call a techno-dummy.
We sang through our 2 Palm Sunday Songs and did one run-through of the Old Testament Song. Made sure to finish on time because this week is Missions Week and one of our guest missionaries was scheduled to talk to all the kids.
One child was able to recite both the Old and New Testament to me, so she earned herself and “Adventures In Odyssey” audio c.d. My kids love “Adventures in Odyssey”, so I hope this is a blessing to this family, too!
