Today was Communion Sunday, so worship went longer than normal. I really only spent about 9 minutes with the kids. I did our warm up MP3 file like last week, but I did one new little thing. This week I dug up some old tongue depressors from our craft stuff at home and wrote a different sound on each one, like “Za”, “Mi”, “May”, etc. I tried to add some that I thought would be funny, like “Toe”. My plan for using these is to keep these in a cup and have a kid pull one out at random and that is our warm up syllable for the week. Today it was actually very helpful, because we had a new boy come to church today and he was a bit apprehensive. I was able to draw him in by telling him that I needed his help with something, and he drew our first warm up stick.
We worked recited our Palm Sunday Verse “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9. We sang through both “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” and “The King Of Glory Comes”.
The biggest struggle with today is that my voice is totally gone. Boo. I sound like frog. The kids got a kick out of it when my voice cracked, though. So that is one perk. I am trying my best to keep this 15 minutes a week fun so the kids want to be there. So croaking it is. Croak.
